Current Opportunities

Instructor

Instructors at ADI teach various firearm and self-defense classes, both in groups and in private sessions. They instruct simulated courses here at the location in Lake Forest and also live-fire courses at a local live range.

Tier 1 Instructor: Law Enforcement, Military, SWAT, Scout/Sniper, SRT


Tier 2 Instructor: Law Enforcement or Military Experience


Tier 3 Instructor: Civilian only – Must possess their Basic NRA Instructor Certificate

  • Be a subject matter expert in the “use of force” curriculum.
  • Have a clear understanding of the “adult learning theory” concepts.
  • Be familiar with, and adapt to, the Socratic Method of teaching.
  • Teach the Pistol Series and Transition classes per the outline curriculum in the Instructor Manual. Instructors can add to the curriculums, but not take away any skill sets already designated.
  • Develop and implement courses of fire for the designated weekly core competency for our 4M (advanced) group classes.
  • Assess clients’ responses in scenario based training, and be creative in giving a brief backstory while training on the V300.
  • Be respectful to clients and ask before you physically touch them to correct anything within the fundamental skills.
  • Assist the Operator with any equipment issues.
  • Be approachable and answer any student or member questions. If you do not know the answer, find out from a reliable source and follow up with the client.
  • Be service oriented.
  • Be polite, professional and have swagger, without being cocky.
  • Excellent communicability and interpersonal skills

Tier 1 Instructor:

  • Starting pay through training and 90-day introductory period: $20.00 per hour
  • After one year, based on annual performance evaluation: $22.50 per hour
  • After two years, based on annual performance evaluation: $25.00 per hour
  • Cap at $25.00 per hour

Tier 2 Instructor:

  • Starting pay through training: $15.00 per hour
  • After 90-day introductory period, $18.00 per hour
  • After nine months, based on annual performance evaluation: $20.00 per hour
  • After two years, based on annual performance evaluation: $22.50 per hour
  • Cap at $22.50 per hour until higher tier is achieved

Tier 3 Instructor:

  • Starting pay through training and 90-day introductory period: $15.00 per hour
  • After one year, based on annual performance evaluation: $17.50 per hour
  • Cap at $17.50 per hour until higher tier is achieved

Please note: Periodically, typically at review times, ADI may or may not increase pay to
the employee based on merit and underlying economic conditions.

Operator

Operators at ADI work on system computers during firearm training. They assist firearm instructors during classes. Operators also diagnose and troubleshoot system weapons when they are not working properly.

  • Start up V180 and V300. Start up V100 only if needed for special training.
  • Zero firearms on the systems.
  • Fill and oil magazines at the beginning of each class and consistently between
    relays.
  • Change targets at instructor’s request.
  • Add sound effects and distractions at instructor’s request.
  • Assist instructor with Pistol series classes: five-count presentation repetitions and any other corrections for shooters on the line.
  • Operate the computer to pull up the targets for review and reset at the instructor’s request.
  • Note any issues with the system and system firearms, such as intermittent or excessive “ghosts shots” or the system intermittently not tracking shoots at all.
  • Assist with setting up for special law enforcement or corporate training in the classroom and in the lab.
  • Take out the trash around the facility.
  • Assist in general cleaning and housekeeping within the facility.
  • Advanced responsibilities, only to execute after specific training:
    • Tighten internal and external components on the system firearms between
      relays.
    • Replace “O-rings” in magazines.
    • Replace “O-rings” at fill stations.
  • Excellent communicability and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and tech-related issues
  • Understanding of fundamentals of marksmanship skills

Office Assistant

Office Assistants at ADI run the front office of the facility. They assist clients checking in for classes, answer phone calls and ensure the daily flow of business is moving smoothly.

  • Assist clients with scheduling and checking into classes.
  • Maintain accurate client records, including all charges and/or credits.
  • Maintain accurate daily audits for accounting purposes.
  • Answer phones, and direct to appropriate employee if unable to answer or assist.
  • Be familiar with ADI classes, courses, membership options, etc., and be able to accurately explain this information to clients.
  • Maintain office orderliness, including front office, coffee area, classroom, etc.
  • Assist other employees with administrative tasks.
  • Navigate online booking systems and troubleshoot account issues.
  • Manage incoming mail and deliveries by notifying and directing materials to proper source.
  • Accurately manage the petty cash drawer.
  • Assist in general cleaning and housekeeping within the facility.
  • Excellent communicability and interpersonal skills
  • Superb customer service skills
  • Familiarity with Mac computers and technology in general
  • Proficient in the following programs:
    • Pages/Word
    • Numbers/Excel
    • Google Docs, Drive, etc.
    • Photoshop (not required, but a plus)
    • Self-motivated and self-sufficient work habits
  • Organization
  • Problem-solving skills
