Description
The BSIS Firearms Permit Renewal Qualification is a mandatory process for all California armed security officers and requires permit holders to requalify with each caliber listed on their permit four times during the two-year permit period—twice in the first year and twice in the second year, with each qualification spaced at least four months apart. After each successful qualification, the instructor will provide a signed range qualification form, which must be retained and submitted with the renewal application. On the fourth and final qualification, permit holders must also pass the BSIS written firearms examination with a minimum score of 85% to be eligible for permit renewal. Each renewal session includes a two-hour classroom review on use-of-force and de-escalation, followed by a live-fire range qualification with every caliber authorized on the permit.
Participants will need their own firearm and ammo.
